I’m embarking on my first big solo trip since my blogging adventures began back in 2009. And this will also be my first time in Asia! I’ve been trying to expand my travel horizons beyond Europe, which has become too comfortable, and not as exciting as travel should be. I started branching out a little bit with a group tour in Costa Rica, and a write-your-own-adventure in Australia. But those were a little “safe”, without having to really spread my travel wings much. So I’m excited to go somewhere completely different, where I’ll have to figure out an entirely new culture. I also realized this will be my  first time in a place with a predominately non-Caucasian population. I don’t really count Costa Rica since we were mostly around Caucasian tourists.

I’ll be heading to the island of Bali, in Indonesia, for two weeks. It’s a relatively small island, only 100 miles wide and 70 miles north to south. I’m staying away from the big tourist areas in the south, and will be visiting the northern beach town of Lovina, the central culture capital of Ubud, and the southwestern beach town of Candidasa. I’m looking forward to exploring the volcanoes, the beaches, the rice fields, and the many Hindu temples. And also experiencing the rich culture of dance, music, art, and food!
